I went to the mall with my mom, aunt, cousin, and grandma on Saturday. It was okay I guess; better than just going with my mom.When we were first leaving for the mall, my aunt and grandma practically gawked at these Muslims as they drove by. It was like they've never seen women in a burka before, although it was probably just intolerance and a misconception that all Muslims are violent.
Anyway, while we were at the mall my cousin wanted to go to a Limited Too store (gag) and I went to a Borders Express, which are always shitty, mind you.
As we went through all these clothing stores, I noticed that every single store had clothes with a main theme: hippy-ish and something you'd buy at a garage sale. Yet people seem to think that these clothes are "cute". Right.
A lady at an H&M store who barely spoke english asked if I worked there, but all I heard at first was "Excoose me do you wo0dsigsdgh heerwasvewt", or something. I thought she was asking if I spoke her language, but then FINALLY I understood.
We spent about four hours shopping. I really don't get people who can shop for so damn long. It's boring, it's stupid, and it's tiring. If I spend too long shopping I get really cranky.
As we were about to leave, this one woman pointed out to her friend what I was wearing (it was a black-denim skirt with long frills or whatever). I was looking STRAIGHT at her and her friend, who was by then also pointing. What the fuck is up with people?
Oh, and I almost forgot.. my aunt said that my uncle wanted her to where something more "pastoral" and so she was looking at the more formal clothes. That got me to thinking how much time they are wasting going to church. It's just amazing to me that people can still believe in a god. Especially one with this story:
"There was a god who created the world in six days, impregnated a virgin so that she could give birth to a god-man, who was also God, but on earth. He walked on water, did miracles, and rose people from the dead. He also rose himself from the dead after getting persecuted dying for the world's sins."
If any of this sounds reasonable to you, then you need a desperate reality check.
Which brings me to another point: most, if not all, religious people know absolutely nothing about the history of their religion. I'm not talking about those myths in their "holy texts" either, but the actual, true history. Like many ancient myths way before Christianity even existed are almost EXACTLY similar to the one above.

I've been going over hard times I had in school with a friend on MSN; social anxiety problems, mainly.I take corrispondence classes now, which has helped with my anxiety so that I don't have to constantly deal with annoying assholes anymore. Gives me more energy when I go places. Anyway, when I did go to regular school, about once every two weeks or so someone would always come up to me and ask why I was so quiet. This happened so much that I just started to ignore it. I realise that some people may genuinely not know, but it gets old real fast.
Whenever I would actually talk in class, people would stare at me and go "Wow she talked!!!!". It's like these people thought I was mute or something, even though I would occasionally talk.
In 5th grade, one guy actually made fun of me because I wouldn't (and couldn't, due to anxiety) talk. He suddenly changed his view when I drew a horse on the board in front of the class and went "You're cool", or something.
Here's some advice: just because someone won't talk, don't treat them any differently. If you can plainly see that the person is anxious, this just makes you even more of an idiot. Social anxiety is a real problem involving the chemicals in your brain, so technically it isn't the person's fault. You can't just "walk it off"; it isn't that simple. 0 Comments - Post/view comments

I can't believe this. I really can't. What the hell does faith and religion have to do with politics? Oh, that's right, this is America. No one wants an atheistic leader.This is all complete bullshit, it really is. These people seem to go out of their way to say that they believe in Jesus and "have faith". Again, why should we give a flying rat's ass what their beliefs are? And what the fuck is up with this statement:
"Senator, you often speak of the 39 million Americans who wake up in poverty every day. Many of us in churches and faith-based organizations, for us this is a gospel issue, as you know. Changing this is a biblical priority, so we are wanting to make a specific commitment to cut poverty in half in the next 10 years as a beginning"?
Followed by this reply from Edwards:
"Well, let me first say thank you to you, Jim, and to Sojourners for its great leadership on this, what I think is a great moral issue facing this country today and I would add to that, this the is the cause of my life. It is the reason after the last election that I went back to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, started a poverty center. It is the reason I've traveled around the world doing humanitarian work."
A gospel issue? A moral issue "facing this country today"? You don't have to have faith to care that other people are dying of starvation, and in fact, if faith is the only thing that makes you a caring person, you have a real problem.
It's hard to read any further without getting nauseous; "Do you think that God takes sides in a war? For example, in the war on terror, is God on the side of U.S. troops, would you say?"
God taking sides, hmm, okay. If he did exist, this wouldn't be very nice now, would it? I thought God was supposed to love everyone no matter what. Taking sides is rather childish for a god, and I do not think he would be for such a petty war as this. And anyhow, asking this question is the equivilant of asking "Does Santa take sides, do you think? Does he deliver presents to the U.S troops?" Furthermore, do these people not realise that the people in Iraq have a faith and a god too, and are killing for it? So, which faith is right, yours or theirs?
I can't read anymore of the transcript. It's just too ridiculous and pathetic. I never realised just how heavily a role faith plays in America. It's fucking sad. As someone on the Infidels.org forums said, "You myswell ask them what their favorite Lord of the Rings character is".
When will people realise that this whole "faith" thing is nonsense? Especially grouping faith and religion with politics! Why should anyone care what someone's faith is as long as they are a good person? In this country, someone could be the nicest person in the world, giving money to charity and preventing child and/or animal abuse, but if they mention they are an atheist, it's all over. Something is seriously wrong here when belief in an invisible dude determines how good a person you are.

I fucking hate the news. Always negative things, never positive. People dying, buildings getting caught on fire. It's so common to hear these things that eventually, one just has to say "who gives a shit?" After all, death happens every day. We don't need the news to tell us this unless it was someone important who died.Why, just tonight, yet ANOTHER soldier has gone missing! Who would of thunk (thank?) it?! "Prayers are going out, blah blah".. I got so pissed that I said, out loud, "Yeah, good load of help prayers are going to do". Of course, my dad got all anal on me and I went on saying "Oh, and I'm sure you care a WHOLE LOT about every person that dies? Pray for them, oh HOW GOOD THAT WORKS!".
I hate myself and all those idiots that think praying does anything. I hate myself for not caring and I hate people who are so deluded as to think a dude in the sky exists and cares more about a missing person than starving children. Whatever happened to being rational adults, here? What ever happened to thanking PEOPLE for good things that happen? If someone turns out to be alive it's "thank god" more than "thank you". Something is seriously wrong with this.
And haven't people gotten the idea yet that praying doesn't work? Yet many (here in good ol' fat-and-religious America) still pray for petty things such as getting that parking space or doing well in an interview. There are homeless children out there, starving and disease-ridden, and you have the nerve to think that you are more important than they are? Or do you just block this out of your mind, like all bad things?

Oh, where to begin? One wonders if this guy is joking or being serious in the first place. Assuming that he is being serious:
First, he knows next to nothing about what atheism really is. Atheism was not "founded" to ridicule theists at all. Atheism is simply the disbelief in a god or gods. Little does he know, he himself is an atheist towards other gods such as Zeus.
Second, he says that atheism is based off of ignorance, which is extremely absurd and ignorant in itself. Let's take a look here on what atheism, science and skepticism in general are based off of, and theistic belief:
Atheism/Science
- Reality
- What we can see and test
- Discovering cures for diseases
- Discovering how the world really works
- Evidence
Theism
- A book nearly 2,000 or more years old
- Belief in a god or gods
- Prayer
Furthermore, what most theists don't realise is that their "holy book" (Christianity mainly) is based off of copies of copies of people rewriting it to how they see fit. And their god? Based off of old Paganistic ones. Not a bit of Christianity (I can't say for certain with the other religions) is original or new.
And, addressing that "you can just as easily say nature-did-it as God-did-it".. this has got to be one of the stupidest statements I have ever read. Unlike the "Godidit" assumption, this "naturedidit" (something I have never heard of until now) one isn't an assumption at all but based off of evidence. If something goes bump in the night, we don't immediately credit it to ghosts, but we try to find a rational explanation. Theists, on the other hand, will just say "Godidit" and that's that. No thinking required. Day and night exist, Godidit. Trees exist, Goddidit. Apparently, many religious people don't have the curiosity to want to find out why something is the way it is, and that's just sad.
I could probably type up a better arguement but I'm very tired and in need of sleep.

I don't think too many atheists are interested in petty religious fights simply because they are so pathetic. All they are is adults fighting over which Invisible Man is better. Then again, this petty squabbling is rather good evidence that a god does not exist, and that religion can be a very dangerous thing. As for atheists not liking Christians, this simply isn't true, at least for me. It's the religion itself that I dislike.

Truth is indeed under attack, but not as this person states it. Truth as in science and what the world itself can tell us. Indeed, ALL Christians and churches have been deceived by their religion. It is nothing but a lie. As for faulty texts, I'd have to say that they are all faulty. How would you decide which is "true" anyhow?
After this rather odd post by the OP, anything else said by him is either about how "unbelievers are in darkness" or quotes from Scripture. I find that quite a lot of religious people "argue" this way, which does nothing. One could just as easily quote parts of Scripture that put to light all the horrible things this Jesus has done or said, such as this:
Mark 9:17-18 & 25 "....Master, I brought unto Thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him; and foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away; and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
However, after someone brought this verse up, this was the reply:

So basically he is calling anyone who doesn't agree with him devils, and is making himself look like a paranoid person in the process. It's so pathetic it's almost funny.. here in this day and age, we STILL have people who believe in this garbage! This is something you'd expect to hear in the 1600s, not 2007! It's ridiculous! We are not the ones who have been deceived, not by a long shot. We are not the ones who have been blinded. Rather, it is the people who think there is a god and devils who are in the darkness. While these people sit in the same era for centuries, others have actually done something about learning how the world really works. Praying does nothing, having "faith" does nothing. It is curiosity about the world that makes curing diseases possible, not belief in devils and exorcism!
Putting Bible John behind us now, I want to bring up something else: how people spend millions on new churches or church additions and not to any good causes themselves. Christians like to say that they care about people, when apparently they don't. Sure, there's a commercial that airs every once in a while that asks viewers to give donations for a starving, homeless child, but mostly, any money that is spent by churches themselves are not spent in charity. Building a damn church isn't the answer, praying that everything will be all right isn't the answer, IT IS ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING that is the answer, because apparently your god doesn't give a shit about starving and dying children.
Off topic - A NOTE TO PEOPLE WHO UPLOAD VIDEOS TO YOUTUBE - Quit posting shitty cellphone videos of bands! You know how long it takes to find a descent video on there these days without running into some horrible quality videos with shaky cameras or crappy sound? 0 Comments - Post/view comments
