Today is a good day. Rainy, gloomy. Love it. My dog is being pathetic about it. He's a big, furry, black lab mix, and he's afraid of rain and thunder. He hides in the bathroom and sometimes even IN the shower. He's currently in the closet.. big baby.

I've been thinking about how Oblivion is compared to Morrowind, and I must say Morrowind would be the better. Oblivion completely blows compared to all the great aspects of Morrowind. Here is why I loved Morrowind:

More 'alien', mysterious feel, weird creatures, more factions, the Sixth House gave me a creepy feeling what with the Sleepers and all and those strange ash statues and shrines, the daedric and dwemer ruins, the different structures of each city, the fact that the leveling system isn't screwed up, the beast races are actually BEAST races, a much more deep main quest, the fact that there is no voice acting save for random comments, more dialogue choices, a feeling of accomplishment when I go into a cave or somesuch filled with tough enemies and survive.. and the list could go on and on.

What's good about Oblivion? The physics, the fact that NPCs have schedules, better graphics, better magic system, better sneaking, better combat system, excellent Dark Brotherhood storyline. And that's pretty much it. Horses don't really add much in my opinion. They're slow ( most ), and get in the way. And there is no mounted combat.

Only bad things I hated about Morrowind was the magic and combat system, no physics, crashes often ( probably due to all the mods I have ), and the NPCs just stand around like signposts.

Bad things about Oblivion? Voice acting, the whole land is virtually the same and very repetitive, only four factions, incredibly stupid leveling system, no difference in structure in the different towns save for a shabby look and the medeival-like look, doesn't feel as mysterious, no unique monsters, boring and repetitive main quest, when you run it doesn't drain fatigue which doesn't make sense, the game basically holds your hand through everything, the temptation to fast travel, the magical compass that knows where everything is, the modding community is screwed with the creation of new quests, because again, the voice acting. There is no necromancer's guild; the mages acknowledge the fact that you're wearing necromancer's robes yet the necromancers themselves don't. Laziness on Bethesda's part I'd say, but perhaps with another add-on it could be implemented..

Onto a slightly different topic, what about those little add-ons for Oblivion, the ones that cost money? Like the horse armor. The horse armor was supposed to be in the original game, but they probably decided to take it out to get a few extra bucks. And the thing is, horse armor is useless and doesn't make sense in Oblivion. There is no mounted combat, and who takes a horseback ride through the countryside with ARMOR on their horse? Besides, a quality horse can easily outrun any monster, or atleast the char itself can.

And the Orrery was definately supposed to be in the original game. There is even a room in original Oblivion's Arcane University that you can't enter where the orrery is supposed to be. There is even an ingame book describing the orrery.

Mehrune's Razor is another something that most likely was left out of them game, only to be added later for money. The Razor itself is in the construction set, enchantments aside.

The others I imagine were all left out like this too. Why do they do this? All these things were supposed to be in the original game, yet they aren't. Or perhaps they ran out of time and couldn't fully implement these things, but somehow I doubt that.
