Every once in a while I like to have a small debate with my parents about Christianity and the like. I think it was yesturday when my mom asked me why I don't believe in their god anymore. I asked her how she thought Christianity started, and then my dad interrupts and asked me "then how did you get here?" or something similar. Well, it all started on one romantic night.. I'm not even gonna go there.I told my dad that the bible was written thousands of years ago in a time when science was practically unknown and when people exagerated things. He just replied with "there was always science". Great answer there, buddy.
It's pretty amazing that I'm only sixteen and know quite a lot more than my dad in terms of ancient history and the like. I was commenting that some guy looked like a fat Jesus, and he asked me if I knew what he looked like. I replied with "Why don't you go ask that to all the people that painted him?". I then went on to say that the image of Jesus was probably based off of Zeus, and he didn't know who this was. It was unbelievable.
He asked me one night if I was a druid. We were watching some Stephen King thing and "druidic sacrifice" was mentioned. I know my dad was most likely joking, except for the fact that he was completely unaware of what a druid really is.
While expressing my opinion on the whole religion thing, my dad said somewhat jokingly that they should take away my internet, and my mom went "yep". This tells me that my parents think I am completely stupid or unable to come up with my own ideas and opinions. I explained that to him and he shut up.
I can't stand how stupid my dad can be.
