I've been thinking how stupid religion is (again). If you ask me, religious people are living in the ancient days or middle ages. Thinking a god exists and made the world is just bullshit. If Christianity hadn't taken over, some of today's most well-known Greek mythologies would be believed in instead. In the old testiment, horrible things are written about what Jesus would do to sinners, and many unrealistic things such as a verse that, if used in modern english, would translate to "men are higher than women and may do with them what they please". Later on people had to rewrite this with something less drastic.. but if this god really does exist, then people rewriting his book isn't going to change the god himself, now will it? This right here is what you would call "playing god". Is that not a sin?
Some people pick from the bible what they believe to be right and say the rest to be foolishness. If people can decide what is right and wrong, why do they need this bible anyway? It was either a book of morals, Jesus being a fictional character that teached them, or it was just plain fantasy like Greek mythology. Of course it is also possible that Jesus was indeed a real person, but the "miracles" he performed, like many things in old texts, were most likely exhagerated. People long ago did not know how things worked and so resorted to supernatural explainations.
Today though, there are mountains upon mountains of evidence that evolution did indeed take place, and is still taking place. There is no reason at all to believe any supernatural being created the universe. Though I do wonder how the very first molecule came to being.. perhaps they were always there. Makes your head spin.
And what of private schools? Ridiculous. These people are treating their children like robots. They program into them what they should and shouldn't believe, force nonsense stories onto them and tell them they are true. A child at a young age will believe almost anything he or she is told. It would be better to teach them how to spell, how to do math, history... instead of wasting time on a story. This is like idolising the Tortoise and the Hare and being told that it was a true story. It had a moral, yes, but that doesn't mean it actually took place.
If heaven and hell really did exist, I would rather suffer in eternal flame than spend all of eternity with an evil god and his damn "sheep" that couldn't think for themselves if their lives depended on it.
Christianity is not the only ridiculous religion, of course. Most religions (ones that involve a god or higher being anyway) are filled with rubbish. Like Islam, for example. Their god says that if non-believers were to be killed, then the person who did the killing would go to live in paradise when he died. In other words, Allah is some evil being and his followers are his hitmen. Instead of money, they'd get virgins. Any person in their right mind could easily identify this as a bunch of bull.
Edit - Woah, I just found this film. Damn. 0 Comments - Post/view comments
