I was browsing through the Ebaums forums, as usual, and came across this thread about paranormal/unexplainable experiences. I thought there'd be one or two serious stories before people started to make sarcastic remarks, but only one or two posts were sarcastic. And in a place like Ebaums, where sarcasm runs rampant.. it makes you think. Are there really ghosts or spirits? Or is it just your mind playing tricks on you? Or maybe all those people were just drunk.Anyway, I just got finished reading the book Night Watch a few days ago, and I must say that it's a very, very good book. There are these two Watches, the Night Watch and the Day Watch. The Night Watch are basically the good guys, while the Day Watch are the bad guys. This book mixes technology and the modern world with magic, and it does it very well. This 'extraordinary bestseller from Russia' is actually a trilogy, and the last two books are Day Watch and Dusk Watch. Day Watch, I'm assuming, will be focused on the point of view of the "bad" side, and that is just fucking awesome. This book is next on my wishlist. These books are apparently movies aswell, and I'd really like to see them.
I've been reading more from this short book, The Magical Home. It has lore and superstition in it regarding the household, and I find it really interesting. I'm learning many things that I didn't know before, like the word 'window' means 'wind's eye', and that the early church thought bathing was evil since it was linked to Pagan practices and rituals. Yet another instance in which Christianity severely fucked up. Quite funny too, seeing as this religion borrowed most of its rituals from Paganism itself in order to gather more followers. 0 Comments - Post/view comments
