I was supposed to go to this "Body Worlds" exhibit with my parents today. I put it in quotations because going to the official website brought up three states in which the exhibit would travel to this year, none of which were mine. Further reading mentioned copycat exhibits that claim to be Body Worlds.

This isn't the only reason I didn't want to go. The main reason is because, well, I'd be going with my parents and whenever I go anywhere with both of them I feel like a loser. I look around and see people with their friends, and there I am with my parents. This shouldn't be an issue and probably isn't for most people.. well, those that don't consider their parents "uncool" anyway. I think too much about these things.

Another reason I didn't want to go is because these "real" bodies - how do I know they're real when this exhibit is a copycat? - have went through a process known an plastination in which the body or organs are preserved in plastic. This gives them a statue-like, and of course plasticy look. I want to see actual bodies without the plasticy look to them. I want to see an actual dissected human, I want to see the stages of decomposition. Needless to say, the place would probably end up smelling pretty bad. 0 Comments - Post/view comments
