I've been going over hard times I had in school with a friend on MSN; social anxiety problems, mainly.

I take corrispondence classes now, which has helped with my anxiety so that I don't have to constantly deal with annoying assholes anymore. Gives me more energy when I go places. Anyway, when I did go to regular school, about once every two weeks or so someone would always come up to me and ask why I was so quiet. This happened so much that I just started to ignore it. I realise that some people may genuinely not know, but it gets old real fast.

Whenever I would actually talk in class, people would stare at me and go "Wow she talked!!!!". It's like these people thought I was mute or something, even though I would occasionally talk.

In 5th grade, one guy actually made fun of me because I wouldn't (and couldn't, due to anxiety) talk. He suddenly changed his view when I drew a horse on the board in front of the class and went "You're cool", or something.

Here's some advice: just because someone won't talk, don't treat them any differently. If you can plainly see that the person is anxious, this just makes you even more of an idiot. Social anxiety is a real problem involving the chemicals in your brain, so technically it isn't the person's fault. You can't just "walk it off"; it isn't that simple.
